Not all healthcare practitioners can partake in raw, authentic discussions about mortality with their patients. Couched with science and statistical analyses, their communication can feel vague or easily misunderstood, leaving interpretation up to a patient’s ability to understand confusing terminology, when fear and confusion dominate. Even practitioners sensitive to their patients’ emotional landscape are hindered by the 15 to 20-minute visits allowed by the medical business model of billing.
When Aging Becomes a Heroes Journey
Approaching retirement, a person may have vague plans to travel, relax, and start new hobbies, but when the aging process sets in, and health declines, visits to the doctor can become the primary focus. Conversations start to revolve around health topics and lab...
Age Well From the Inside Out
When you want to slow the effects of aging, knowing where to start is a confusing mix of extraordinary claims and conflicting messages through anti-aging marketers and advertising. To offer support and guidance my website Age at Home Service recently added a shopping...
Electrolyte Replacement to Prevent Heat Stroke
As we head into one of the hottest, if not the hottest seasons on record, it is essential we make sure we all, especially seniors, not only hydrate but replace electrolytes.
Small dietary tweaks can make a big difference
As a medical professional, it is my goal to help people age well holistically. Feeling good physically and emotionally is the foundation for living a good life, and it all begins with food. Once I turned 50, I began to really look at my daily habits, including what I...
The real meaning — and services — of hospice care

About Diane Dennis
The Age Well Expert

I have spent most of my adult life working on self-improvement through self-awareness, and transforming through personal experiences, like loss, love and grief.
As I get older I have added aging well protocols to my list of goals. Over a decade ago I took up a passion sport, sort of by accident. I moved to a house along the Willamette River, complete with a boat dock. So, naturally I bought a boat. It was this action that led to a crash course—literally!—in wakeboarding and discovering my love for water sports, swimming, sun and fun. You see, I did not learn as a child, how to play. Learning to play was one of the biggest age well actions I could have ever learned. Laughter and play are the turbo charged super ingredients in the fountain of forever young.
Around this time, an editor was looking for women to feature in a book. I submitted my bio and next thing I knew I was picked to be one of 50 women featured in Marlo Thomas’s book ‘It Ain’t Over, Til It’s Over’, about women who have reinvented themselves, defied odds, and began to live their best lives.
Reinventing oneself is a lifetime goal that is in constant flux. We are often shedding our old identities, selves, orientations, labels and roles. To intentionally step into a new way of being, believing, living and playing is a journey that can be liberating, exciting, and most importantly fun! I am a huge believer in Fun!
On this page you will find my blogs about aging well, lifestyle tips, healthcare science, and thoughts on how to be your personal best! I took another reinvention leap in 2020 that was born from a personal experience. After losing four family members in three short years, and being recruited by my family for their care and medical needs, I felt directed to reinstate my RN license. Back to school in 2020? I never would have believed it. While the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world, I took to running 2 miles a day and went back to school!
Through this transformation, I am once again reinventing myself and learning how to love through healing and upholding others in poor health, disease, disorders and aging. I now have even more tools to help you!
Let’s learn together and Live Well to become our Personal Best at any age. It is Never Too Late.
